Perhaps I am just not a Dessert Romance person, because I also found The Chocolate Kiss quite boring. I know a lot of readers will be captivated by the descriptions of Phillipe's macrons and Magalie's chocolate witches, but I simply wasn't. Magalie's aunts have owned their little shoppe for over 40 years, and then Phillipe moves in next door and lures away their customers. Magalie is not happy about this at all, and soon a little war develops between them. All is fair in love and war, right?

I do love enemies to lovers romances, but the rivalry in The Chocolate Kiss was just silly. A chocolate shoppe being upset about a patisserie opening next door is like McDonald's being mad at a Pizza Hut opening. They're different things! If people want chocolate, they'll still go into Magalie's store (which they do!) and if they want macrons, they wouldn't be coming in anyway! It's just ridiculous! The only thing about the rivalry that I enjoyed was that Phillipe and Magalie were trying so hard to get the other to taste their treats and failing!

I don't have much to say about The Chocolate Kiss at all. It just wasn't my thing. The opening was odd and made it seem like it was going to be a magical read with the witches and the wishes. I almost wish it had been, because I probably would have liked it more. As it is, I was mostly bored and annoyed by Phillipe and Magalie. Their big, brief drama near the end made me roll my eyes so hard. The actual romance was better than the first book though, and actually got quite sexy in places, so that was a plus.
