Statistics for Business

This book provides a background in statistics for those studying up to intermediate levels on a wide variety of business courses. The book is practical rather than theoretical, and aims to meet the needs of all those in the technical colleges and polytechnics who are preparing to enter the business field, and pursuing either BTEC National courses or professional courses such as those for the Association of Accounting Technicians, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, the Institute of Management Services, the Institute of Statisticians, the Market Research Society and similar bodies. It should also be of interest to students on A level, first year degree and Higher National courses who need practice in statistical work because their mathematics background is rusty. The book should be of particular use to entrepreneurs seeking to build their backgrounds in statistical techniques of use in business and to make sense of the increasingly quantitative presentations of banks, public companies, official bodies, venture capitalists and others active in the enterprise field.
The book is student-orientated, with exercises on each aspect of statistics dealt with and a comprehensive answer section. It embodies the author's many years' experience in teaching statistics in further and higher education.
