This text provides a wide-ranging introduction to the study of economics. It covers all the basic aspects of the economic organization of free-enterprise societies, with special reference to Great Britain's position in the European Union. It also explains the production, distribution and exchange of goods and services both within a country and internationally.

A classic title in the Made Simple Series, Book-keeping has now been fully updated to reflect changes in accounting practice. All balance sheets are now displayed in the commonly used European style. New illustrations feature in the book, along with a basic book-keeping and computerized book-keeping chart. Suitable for students taking introductory exams in accounting, including GCSE, BTEC National, RSA, LCCI and other courses corresponding to NVQ level 2.

This book provides a background for courses in business studies and enterprise studies. It follows closely the syllabus requirements of the various examining bodies in these subjects assuming that the reader or student has no previous knowledge in these fields, and needs to develop a broad understanding of business and the need for enterprise in a modern industrial and commercial society. It brings out the underlying purposes of business activity to create goods and services which satisfy the wants of mankind, but also deals with the practical activities necessary for success in these endeavours. Production, marketing, distribution and exporting, personnel matters, accounting and many other related activities are introduced and described.
