These workbooks have been developed to provide a wide range of photocopiable materials to meet teachers' needs across any mathematics curriculum. The four titles which make up the series are Games, Investigations, Puzzles and Mental Mathematics, and each title contains three books covering a range of ability levels. Each book has the teachers' pages opposite the pupil's page. The teacher pages contain comprehensive notes giving the mathematical content of each pupil page and the apparatus needed for each activity; ideas for developing each activity in the form of questions, extensions and variations; an indication of the level of work attainable from each pupil page; and a full discussion of the possible outcomes and answers. The pupil pages give numerous self-contained activities which use simple language, apparatus readily available in the classroom and line drawings.

Most schools use a mathematics scheme or schemes to teach basic skills and concepts, but teachers still require a wide range of materials to supplement these schemes. Such materials are provided by the "Spectrum Mathematics" series. This is a series of three books of data handling activities primarily for the primary years, although secondary school teachers with low attaining pupils will also find these books useful. They are defined in terms of three ability levels. Each book contains 40 data handling activities in the form of a photocopiable pupil sheet detailed teacher's notes about the matematical content and objectives, the apparatus required, activity for the pupils and examples of questions to be asked of the pupils.
