His To Take (Wicked Lovers, #9)

by Shayla Black

New York Times bestselling author Shayla Black invites readers to explore the desires of her Wicked Lovers...

Racing against time, NSA agent Joaquin Muñoz is searching for a little girl who vanished twenty years ago with a dangerous secret. Since Bailey Benson fits the profile, Joaquin abducts the beauty and whisks her to the safety of Club Dominion—before anyone can silence her for good.

At first, Bailey is terrified, but when her kidnapper demands information about her past, she’s stunned. Are her horrific visions actually distant memories that imperil all she holds dear? Confined with Joaquin in a place that echoes with moans and breathes passion, he proves himself a fierce protector as well as a sensual Master who’s slowly crawling deeper into her head…and her heart. But giving in to him might be the most delicious danger of all.

Because Bailey soon learns that her past isn’t the only mystery. Joaquin has a secret of his own—a burning vengeance in his soul. The exposed truth leaves her vulnerable and wondering how much about the man she loves is a lie, how much more is at risk than her heart. And if she can trust him to protect her long enough to learn the truth.

I must bow to the greatness that is Shayla Black! His to Take the 9th book in the Wicked Lovers series is one of my favorites of the series. Shayla pulled me into the book from the start and there was no turning back and no sleep until the book was devoured. She pulls you into the world by updating you on previous characters and couples lives who you have grown to love if you are a follower of this series. The world of Wicked Lovers comes alive as she keeps all the amazing characters to life by showing you how their lives have changed and progressed since last reading about them. This book is thrilling and you FINALLY get to meet the elusive Joaquin Munoz and introduced to Baily Benson a beautiful ballerina who captivates your heart with her strength, her courage, her talent and her beauty.

Joaquin has a good heart but starts out on the wrong foot with Bailey. To save her life and keep everyone they know that is involved safe is an adventure and page turner in itself. You can’t help but want to throttle Joaquin and tell him what an idiot he is and several times I had odd looks from friends or family as I am griping about how Joaquin is being an idiot. I did not feel like I was reading this book I felt like I was in the world of the Wicked Lovers and couldn’t stop reading because I had to know what was going to happen. I loved that the Club Dominion and the characters from there are back and you are also included in how they have been doing and what is in store for them as well.

I was completely absorbed by this book it was so well written that I cried, laughed and shared in the happiness of the characters as well as their fears. I would sometimes even forget that I was reading a fictional book and was feared for those that I loved. This book has a great plot that continues to unravel and engage you. The only complaint that I can say is that I was sad when I finished the book. I wasn’t ready to leave the Wicked Lovers world that Shayla Black has so vividly brought to life!
