Intangible is the debut novel of indie author J. Meyers and I found it to be a refreshing twist. Meyers gives us a tale steeped in prophecy, danger, secrets, vampires and endless possibilities for future novels. I easily consumed this entertaining tale in a few hours.

In the novel we meet Sera and Luke Raines. They are twins living with their mother. While they may seem like ordinary high school students they each have a gift or curse. Sera is able to heal things and Luke has premonitions. His visions always come true and despite trying he hasn’t been able to stop them. After a horrific experience with their paternal grandmother the twins have been careful not to reveal their talents. Things are about to turn the twins world upside down. There are those who seek to destroy them. When Luke has a vision of Sera’s death he begins to try and uncover clues to stop the vision from occurring. The tale that unfolds was captivating as we learn more about the twins and their destiny.

Sera is a real loner. Her touch can heal you, relax you and unfortunately, it also makes you like Sera. This has led her to be very leery of everyone; she yearns for real romance and real friendships. She has a passion for painting, is loyal to those she lets in and is very compassionate. She heals whenever she can. Luke is the head of household, even though his Dad isn’t too far away. He feels the need to protect Sera and dealing with these visions of her death is tearing him apart. Fey is a friend to both Sera and Luke. She is very protective of them and doesn’t want to see them hurt. I loved discovering who she was and watching her role develop. There are two young men who show an interest in Sera. Jonas, who is handsome, confident and seems wise beyond his years and then there is Marc, a troubled young man who recently arrived from Vermont. Meyers also gives us characters to fear and hate.

The world-building in Meyer’s novel is interesting and the premise unique. While it wasn’t a complicated world, I liked the tale of the twins and the prophecy. The pace of the novel was good although most of the action was delivered in the final chapters. While I still have questions, what was revealed felt believable. I am looking forward to the next installment in this series. There was a little hint of romance but it was secondary to plot.
