Holy Shamoly, that was good....

I love ending books on a high and Property Of, left me with a huge smile on my face. This book had all the thing I love in a romance novel. I laughed myself silly with all the quirky lines that came from the heroine Nicola. I was intrigued with the mystery surrounding the serial killer on the loose. Our hero Dallas turned me on with all of his tough, gruff and possessive talk. The friendship between Nicola and her friends was true, strong and believable. One of my favourite connections portrayed was the one with Nicola and her brothers. They are triplets and Finn and Bo like to torment Nicola at every opportunity, but also would protect her with their lives.

Nicola and Dallas meet for the first time when they bump into each other and he wears the coffee he was holding. They have an instant attraction to each other and meet again under similar circumstances. Nicola is an author of historical romances and decides to take a break from it and write a romantic suspense instead. She tells her friends about it and they decide to help her do the research. Nicola's research takes her to the police station where she meets the guy who keeps wearing his coffee because of her. It doesn't take Dallas long to decide that fate has brought them together, so he's going to keep her.

There was plenty of drama with our heroine making some silly decisions, the Heroes ex-wife deciding she wants back in (short lived drama that Dallas sorts out quick and easy) and safety issues that always seem to get bungled when the killer is about. I'm not a huge fan of drama for the sake of drama, but this one balanced out OK for me.

Overall I really enjoyed this story. I loved the talk about Highlanders, maidens and warlords. Dallas was my favourite type of hero with his "mine" mentality and possessive nature. Nicola was a character that made me laugh and her thought processes for her books were interesting and funny. Dallas and Nicola as a couple worked well for me, I never doubted their connection and knew in the end, it would all work out.

After reading this, one of my first thoughts was...Ms Smith when are you writing a Highlander romance for us? Another great story by CP Smith, can't wait for more.
