I’m completely stunned by the Butterman Travel series. I love time travel. I’ve loved time travel since the first few 100 pages of Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander. I’ve been looking for lighter, shorter fixes for my time travel addiction and while I’ve found some suitable fixes they are usually a bit deeper and male-focused than I’m looking for. I believe I finally found what was I was looking for with the Butterman Travel series by P.K. Hrezo.

With just enough spunk and ingenuity, Bianca Butterman waltzed into my life and captured my imagination. With her obsession of the Titanic I knew I had found my next book girlfriend. I wanted to know more about Bianca, become her best friend and travel through time with her. I wanted to help her figure out Garth’s next move and hold Tristan down while she kicked his ass.

One of my favorite things about the time travel in the series is that it doesn’t get too bogged down in the science. It’s there and it certainly plays a part in the bigger picture that connects Bianca and Tristan together. However, the character development and mystery of how everyone is connected plays a bigger part in driving the story forward. The science of time travel only gets explained when it’s necessary and I didn’t feel completely confused when it was explained.

Out of the 2 books and one novella, currently in the series, I think the descriptions of the Titanic in Induction Day were amazing. Like Bianca, the Titanic disaster has intrigued me. I was in elementary school when they discovered it on the ocean floor and I remember my parents letting me stay up to watch the 10 o’clock news to see the pictures from the submarine. In 2012, I participated in a reading group of survivor stories via our Metro Library Network. I could feel Bianca’s desire to save everyone on board and the shocking realization of the desperation on board. I’ll be honest, I got a bit teary-eyed during her exchanges with Quincy and Adelaide.

Overall, the Butterman Travel series by P.K. Hrezo receives a thumbs up. If you are looking for a lighter time travel novel with a bit of a steamy side and well-round, good-head-on-her-shoulders heroine, I would definitely recommend checking out the series. I’m only disappointed that I have to wait several months for book 3 to be released. I want to know more about this crazy connection between Bianca, Agent Garth and Tristan.
