My Bike by Byron Barton

My Bike

by Byron Barton

A picture book about vehicles and things that go-in this case, bicycles and unicycles-by Byron Barton, the acclaimed creator of My Car, My Bus, and numerous other classic titles! Tom, the narrator of this cheerful picture book for preschoolers, is the proud owner of a bright green bicycle. After Tom describes all the parts of his bike, he rides the bike to work. He rides along busy roads and bustling streets, past cars and buses and animals and people, until he arrives at the circus, changes into his work clothes, and goes to work. It turns out that Tom is a clown, and his job is to ride a unicycle on a high wire under the big top! A fresh and fun look at riding (on two wheels and one), community, transportation, and professions, with a surprise ending!

My Bus 4 stars

Notes: Greenwillow. Transportation
40 Jacketed Hardcover 9x9”. Ages 4-8 Preschool

Illustrations reminicent of Todd Parr. My Bus is my first Byron Barton book, although I have an ARC of My Bike sitting here waiting on me. The illustrations are simple and bright. They are full of examples the earliest artists may emulate My Bus allows reader to meet several examples transportation theme box. It is very simple and happy and includes multiple ethnicities and gender representation. Great for early readers.

My Bike

Notes: Greenwillow. Transportation

We met Joy in My Bus, and now we have Tom in My Bike. This is a great primer on a bicycle. The text is appropriate for the beginning reader. The illustrations are good interest for the toddler population and would make a fun board book. My Bike even has a cameo experience for Joe’s bus! (and maybe the My Car man as well?) Continuing a transportation theme, this cyclist takes us through basic road transportation… and circus animals……. It also teaches bi, tri, and uni.
