Want to know what I hate more than insta-love? No character development AND insta-love. Granted I suppose I was kind of asking for it by reading a novella that includes romance but still it's something that just makes me cringe.
The author does have a fairly nice writing style and the idea overall is decent. I think if Bevill had spent more time developing the story and exploring the characters this could have been a pretty good read, but as is...it's just a rushed romance with a side of whimsy. In fact it's mostly romance after the two main characters meet, and some of it just came off as "I'm confessing my love the second I meet you to progress the storyline quickly."
It's okay if you are looking for a short read and nothing deep but don't go into expecting too much. I'll only read the second if I ever need a quick read to fill time.
