So this is my first book from Book Sirens and I thought I would start out with a short novella to get started. Something a bit spooky I thought would hit the spot.

In this book we have six short stories to read, each taking about 10 minutes to read. They are the sort of stories you could hear around the campfire. The urban legend type of stories. Now before I get on with my review I did enjoy this, it was quick to read and some of the stories were interesting all with a message. I won’t go into detail about each story but just highlight two I enjoyed!

The first story about a haunted house was just creepy! Like I say these are snappy, so things happen quickly. Two boys want a tour around a notorious haunted house where a mother committed a massacre. Spooky sightings causing the boys to run away but something followed them.

The other story was another urban legend type and was about a Prom date. Legend had it a teenage girl haunts the cliff waiting for her date to take her to the prom, but the date was killed as his car careered off the cliff. Present day and a spurned girlfriend wants to trick her boyfriend with the legend…but things do not go to plan! The screams may just stay with me.

These two stories stuck with me because they are the type of stories I would have told when I was young to scare my friends. There was just enough creepiness in them to give you goosebumps and leave feeling slightly unsettled for sure. Those endings!!

The other four stories were interesting, one was just horrific. You could imagine these all being made into a horror/ghost film, particular by Rob Zombie!!

Being a collection of stories you do wish that you could have more to sink your teeth into and to have them as full stories would be awesome! I enjoyed the writing by Ms Pearce and some of the stories had messages in them. Thinking about how you treat people, you reap what you sow, and well that Karma will get you! All hidden in the stories.

If you want a quick fix on spooky stories this is a good one to start! Plus I love the creepy cover!
