A sweet story of second chances

I've read a few short stories by Regina Rudd Merrick in several of the Mosaic Collections and was interested to read a full-length book of hers. Romance with a hint of mystery? Sounds great!

Nick and Lisa were wonderfully human, with normal insecurities and fears. Their plans got derailed when they discovered a body in a secret basement tunnel under the house they were going to restore. Secrets began to be revealed as the investigation continued.

Nick had turned from the Lord when his wife and unborn child were killed in a car crash and struggled with believing that God cared for him. Lisa, despite having a strong faith, struggled with a sense of needing to please people. Their spiritual journeys were well written and pointed clearly to Jesus.

Heart Restoration, while containing a mystery, is more about the faith journey Nick and Lisa travel and the romance that awaits them at the end of the road. It is a sweet and inspirational story.
