Healing in the Hurting Places is about Karen’s real life experiences of being abused as a child. How she struggled with life because of this and carried a lot of anger and pain around which affect relationships, Losing her faith, burying her feelings and also how to recognise the signs of abuse.

I have not been abused but I think Karen is or will be an inspiration to a lot of abuse victims, She suggests ways to try to overcome what has happened. The book also suggests what things you should and shouldn’t say to an abuse victim.

I praise Karen for writing this book as I know it will help so many people whether they are victims themselves or people who know victims.

Being a non-fiction book about Karen’s own life, and basically joining her in her journey was sometimes very emotional and hard to read as I do have someone very close to me who was abused as a child. This has helped me be more aware too.
