Brave (Wicked Trilogy, #3)

by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Ivy Morgan hasn’t been feeling like herself lately. Not like anyone can blame her. After all, being held captive by a psychotic fae prince hell-bent on permanently opening the gates to the Otherworld is bound to leave some mental scars.

It’s more than that, though. Something dark and insidious is spreading throughout Ivy, more powerful than she could ever imagine… and it’s coming between her and the man she’s fallen deeply in love with, elite Order member Ren Owens.

Ren would do anything to keep Ivy safe. Anything. But when he makes a life altering choice for her, the fallout of his act has far reaching consequences that threaten to tear their lives apart. If Ivy is going to have any hope of surviving this, she must put aside the hurt and betrayal she feels, and work with not only those she loves, but with an enemy she would rather kill than ever trust. War is coming, and it soon becomes clear that what Ivy and Ren thought they knew about the Order, themselves, and even their enemies, has been nothing but a cluster of dangerous, deadly lies. Ivy knows she must be more than just brave to save those she loves–and, ultimately, to save herself.

Because behind every evil fae Prince, there’s a Queen…

I have infinite love for this series and it's pretty easy for me to be pleased with anything that JLA writes. She has been one of my favorite authors when I started getting into romance and nothing has changed that. I found Brave to be the perfect ending for this trilogy, it was a bit tough for me to get through it because of Ivy's decision to keep everyone close to her at bay. She was falling apart and refused to reach out to the two that she loved the most, Ren and Tink.

In Brave, we pick up right where we left off in Torn. Ivy went through a very traumatic time under the Prince's capture. She wasn't there that long, but she knew what it was like to lose the ability to control her mind and body, and she was forced to do something that she'd never be okay with it. Thankfully, she was rescued, but she'd never been the same after that emotionally and physically.

It was so tough to watch her deal with the aftermath of being captured. It was such a low point for her and my heart broke for her constantly, but there were so many moments when I just wanted to knock some sense into her. I kept yelling, "Talk to Ren!" ... Ren just embodies everything amazing and he definitely ranks as one of my favorite JLA heroes. But I'll admit, he doesn't exactly get a free pass because of what he did in Torn had me wanting to punch him in the face!

I thought the plot carried on great in this one. It was packed with action and suspense, there was just so much going on and it kept me hooked the entire time. And JLA surprised us with a bit more twists and turn, but my hunches were all there since we've learned more about the fae. However, it just peaked my interest even more and was left with more questions, which I knew it would be impossible to have them answered in this book.

And I wish I could have my own personal Tink, one of my favorite sidekicks and he's just a gallon bucket full of surprises! I love all his different sides, but my favorite would have to be his rare moments of endearment towards Ivy. Ren, Ivy and Tink ... they're a family and nothing will keep them apart.

So there you have it, I love this series! And it was about time I finished it, right in time for the release of The Prince. I was elated to hear about him having his own book because he is who most of my unanswered questions were about. When it comes to side characters, I think he'll definitely be my favorite.
