Interconnected standalones in a series are becoming my jam, I love making all the connections with the characters. And it's a major bonus when you see your favorites pop up in the later books. Cain and Kennedy's story brings two broken souls together in such a slow burn way that you can't help but devour their story.

Jensen has finally found that family she's been looking for in Sutter Lake even if she couldn't quite say that was the truth. It's tough when you come from home that's just so broken and constantly blaming yourself for the fall of that. I liked that she started a new life in Sutter Lake on where I felt she was truly happy and just care-free. But there's still so much holding her back to fully trust in people.
