I recently read Between the Sea and the Stars by Chantal and I really enjoyed it so I was very excited to read this one.

I had not heard of this Grimm fairy tale before this book. When I read a summary on wiki I was a little disturbed by the fact that her own father wanted to marry her, I didn't realise this from the blurb.

The events that transpire between Aurelia and her father are quite disturbing and are not for the faint hearted. However, this story is about more than what happened to Aurelia though. It is about how she moves on from these events.

Aurelia is a strong, brave woman. She learns to move on from her horrific past and she does it with the support of a friend. Aurelia doesn't have any magical cure or overnight fix. Her healing takes time and support.

I found the beginning of this book difficult to connect with but once I was past the first 30ish% the pace picks up and I struggled to put it down. 

Prince Klaus is such a sweetheart. He holds no judgement and believes every word Aurelia tells him about her past without question. I really loved Klaus. 

I thought that the ending of this book was very fitting and appropriate. I was proud of Aurelia for standing up to her past and for not letting it define her. 

I look forward to seeing what Chantal brings us next.
