Then…..
Then there was a section of the book and I was like holy frigging moly, what is going on here! I was then hooked! I couldn’t figure out how this would end, I certainly did not expect the story in front of me! It is clever with the different twists and the kicker at the end, it blew me away. Reflecting on the book now, I have now connected the dots I didn’t at the time of listening. But I think I will definitely go back and read this one at some point to see if I could pick up on things I had missed before. The narrator Charlotte Worthing did do a fab job of drawing out the intensity of the book and I would listen to her narrating again.
This is a story of two girls, best of friends, Jasmine in the past and Felicity in the present. One hot summer, Jasmine is enticed and seduced by Tim, a guy living in their summer house, but things are most definitely not what they seem. In the present a girl is missing, a body has been found, and Felicity feels the need to go back to her hometown and solve this crime.
I think for me, I could not fathom why Felicity would feel the need to risk everything to go back, she just ditched her family for no reason, but a whim. However, when it made sense, wow the words out of my mouth! It was definitely unexpected and just so OMG!
By the end, I was waiting with bated breath to see how this would finish, if I bit my nails I would have done! It is a dark but well-played book, even when you think you might know what is going to have Ms Diamond changes that real quick!
This is my first outing with this author but I have been keen to read her Imogen Grey series, which I will hopefully be able to do soon.
