I had never read about superheros before, certainly not sexy superheroes, so I was excited to pick up Temptress. Jenny Ray, aka Temptress, works for the police as a kind of bounty hunter. She tracks down superheroes who are under arrest, seduces them, steals their powers with a kiss, and brings them in for their trial. Her most recent job doesn’t go quite as planned. She finds her mark, takes his powers, but on her way out she runs into another superhero, Thinktank. The only way to get by is to illegally steal his powers too. She plans to give them back once her job is over, but they kind of refuse to leave her.

What follows is a story full of action, humor, and sexual tension! Temptress was so much fun, and provides a refreshing twist on Paranormal Romance. Even though its a short story, I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what the world is like, which is impressive. Superheros are actually out in the open, and have a kind of celebrity status. The same goes for the villains that they take out. Jenny falls somewhere in between, since her powers are only those that she steals, but she tries to use them only for good. She also has to stay out of the media so no one knows she’s coming.

Temptress was a wonderful surprise! Why don’t superheros and their arch-nemeses show up more often outside of comics? This is certainly a unique addition to the Paranormal Romance genre, since there’s no vampires, shifters, or demons here! It’s also not super sexed up. There’s plenty of tension to keeps things interesting in the beginning, and there’s one quite hot, and very different “sex scene” at the end. Why did I put that in quotes? Well, you’ll just have to read Temptress to find out!
