After a slightly disappointing previous book, Snared has put this series back on track! Gin has the names of all of the members of the mysterious Circle, except for the leader. She's going to find him, but after she tracks down a friend's sister who mysterious disappeared. But while searching for her, Gin stumbles upon the trail of a serial killer who likes young, pretty blondes. That description just happens to fit the missing girl. While Gin's priority is finding her, she's also going to do what she does best: kill a killer.
Snared has returned to the standard formula that most of the series books follow, and I am perfectly okay with that! It works! Plus, this installment has one of my favorite tropes: If I can't have you, no one can! It's pretty obvious that this killer has a type, and his type probably stems from "the one who got away" or something similar. But who is he fantasizing about, and why does he have to kill all these girls?! And what does any of this have to do with Gin, the Circle, or Ashland's criminal underworld? Well, I do have to say that I guessed who the serial killer was, but all of the other little connections that popped up were quite interesting!
Snared was a pretty exciting addition to this series. As we all have come to know, Gin is very arrogant and that comes back to bite her. Obviously we also know that she's going to survive or else the series would be over, but I'm always on the edge of my seat to see how she manages to get herself out of these dangerous situations. This one was no different! I do wish there had been a bit more progress on Gin's investigation of the Circle, since I really had no investment in Jade and Elissa. But I still thoroughly enjoyed this book and cannot wait for the next one!
