Okay, so I’ll admit that this issue wasn’t quite what I had hoped it would be. The tone was a little too casual, and a lot of the events came a little too easily to our heroes. But other than that, I did enjoy everything. So I can’t complain too much I suppose.
So the cover sort of gives it away, as did the conclusion of the last issue. Along with teaming up with the Rhino, Miles is now working with Captain America. I’m pretty sure this is the first time they’ve worked together since what happened during Civil War II, which means that there is so much subtext and tension here…but it’s something that needed to happen. Miles needed it to happen. Maybe Steve did too, I don’t know.
I do think that Miles needed a win, and in a lot of ways, he needed to be working well in a team again. I’m not caught up with the older Miles Morales series (almost there), or the older Champions series for that matter…but the newest Champion series showed us that something is going on with Miles, and he needs some time and help to work that out. I’m hoping this issue went a lot way for helping him.
