Whew. I knew/hoped that if I read another issue of Pearl I’d find myself enjoying it more, and what do you know? It turned out to be true! The plot is still gearing up, but I’m enjoying what I’m seeing. It’s becoming clearer and clearer that the situation that Pearl is in is significantly more complex than it first appeared. I think it’s safe to say that I don’t envy the girl or the position she’s in.
I still have a lot of questions about what is actually going on here, but that’s a good thing. That means I’m getting invested in what’s happening, and that’s pretty much the whole point, right? I’ve got a better grasp on Pearl’s side of things…now I’m curious about the guy. Think they’ll focus on him a bit more next issue?
I can say with complete honestly that even if I still wasn’t into the plot I would continue reading it. And that is for a very simple reason: I completely and utterly love the artwork for this series. It’s so striking, detailed, and artistic all at the same time. I just can’t get enough of it.
