After the intensity of the last issue I was kind of hoping that this one would take it a bit easier. I was sort of right? The introduction to the issue is comical and so out there it’s hard to take seriously. But we’re very quickly brought back to earth (hell?) with another horrible backstory from Cate.
That being said, the new story actually was pretty interesting. Using backstory as a way to get around the ‘freak of the week’ problem while also introducing a larger and longer running plot? It’s pretty smart. As was a reason for the main character(s) to be emotionally attached/compromised by the introduction of said new plot.
