Can Chaos save Moss Hill?

Chaos in the Countryside by Astoria Wright is a cute little cozy mystery. Ms. Wright did an excellent job of hooking me into this series with this short novella. The characters are all well thought out, the setting is terrific, and I fell in love with both Chaos and Carissa.

Chaos

Chaos is a cute little nature faerie that is sent to help Carissa Shae. She is from Mexico and Chaos is adorable. I do feel bad for her since she is in this strange place that is different from her home. She is sent to help Carissa out with their Unseelie problem, but Carissa doesn’t want anything to do with it. What I like about Chaos is that her name fits with the bit of chaos she brings to Carissa. The other thing that I like about Chaos is that she is stubborn about wanting to help out and to keep Carissa safe. The one thing that I dislike about Chaos is that she doesn’t listen to Carissa all that well.

Carissa Shae

Carissa Shae is our main character of this series, and she is a fascinating character. She saddles the line of being apart of two worlds and having to live in both. Cari is half elf and half human who runs The Seelie Tree Apothecary shop that caters to both humans and faeries. Granted for the later she has to go to the fairy world to see her customers. I love how the author makes this island and all the characters feel real to me.

What I like about Carissa is that she has made a great life for herself on her home island and is doing a great job of it. Well, that is until Chaos the fairy shows up. Another thing that I like about her is that despite not wanting to do certain things Carissa does them because she knows that someone has to. The one thing that I don’t like about Carissa is that she doesn’t get with why Chaos was sent to her.

Five Stars

Chaos in the Countryside by Astoria Wright was a great introduction to this series. The author has woven a great tale on how humans and faeries can mix and live in harmony together. Including having kids together and how that affects the half-fae as well. Let’s hope nothing wrong will happen to this little town. I am giving this book a five-star review and highly recommending it to anyone that loves the paranormal and cozies.
