When You're Back (Rosemary Beach, #12)

by Abbi Glines

Love is a journey - Rosemary Beach is the destination…

The future is bright for Reese Ellis. She has Mase Colt-Manning, the man of her dreams, and a family she didn't know existed until her long-lost father arrived on her doorstep in Rosemary Beach. Everything is finally falling into place.

While Reese is visiting her new family in Chicago, Mase spends time with his "cousin," Aida, who has worshipped him since childhood. Unrelated by blood, Mase and Aida have been raised to think of each other as family. But when Reese returns, she can tell something isn't quite right. Aida clearly resents Reese and excels at manipulative little games. And though Mase is unsuspecting, Reese knows Aida doesn't love him like a cousin should…

The Rosemary Beach series is one of my favorite series of all time.  It is like watching Dallas, Knots Landing and Falcon Crest with a side of 90210.  The characters are engaging, hilarious, hot and generally keep you coming back for more.  Mase and Reese do not disappoint.  Make sure to read When I'm Gone first since this is the second part of their story.

After living through her horrible past, Reese seems to be getting her happily ever after.  Being tortured by her mother and stepfather as well as dyslexic didn't stop her from surviving and making a good life for herself.  Plus, she has the love of a good man, Mase, and a family she didnt' know she had.

In When You're Back, Reese has moved in with Mase and things seem to be going well except Mase's cousin Aida is visiting.  Aida isn't what she seems and causes problems for the couple.  Aida isn't technically related to Mase by blood and wants Mase for herself.  On top of that, Reese is bored and wants a job and to finish her GED.  Mase wants to keep her close but knows she needs to spread her wings.  She gets hired by a local at a ranch to handle administrative work and she loves that she is handling it so well.

Of course, another setback comes into play in the form of River Kipling.  He meets Reese at a party and Mase immediately gets bad vibes and he works at the ranch where Reese just got a job.  Reese doesn't like the way he flirts and insinuates that Mase doesn't take care of her.

She handles River pretty well but unfortunately, the crowd from Rosemary Beach gets into the mix.  Mase is called away from Texas to handle his father Kiro and the check on his sister Harlow.  And of course, while he is away, Reese has doubts and River just helps them right along.

This is an Abbi Gline books so we always get our HEA but we never know how we will get there.  Mase and Reese are absolutely adorable together and I enjoyed their moments together as a couple.  I have loved Mase from the first time he showed up in Harlow and Grant's books.  Mase is everything you want: understanding, protective, not too overbearing and downright sexy.  He has a rock star father but he isn't into the fame and fortune.  He makes his own way in the world and takes care of his family including Reese.

Reese and Mase were a nice addition to the Rosemary crowd and it was nice to enjoy their storyline in Texas.  It also introduced us to River/Captain as well as Major.  I am hoping both these boys get their own books.  Til next time Rosemary Beach....
