The Worst Best Man by Lucy Score

The Worst Best Man

by Lucy Score

The bride is a doll. The groom is the perfect gentleman. But the rest of the wedding party? They’re the stuff of nightmares. Rich? Check. Vapid? Double Check. Entitled? Not enough checks in the world. And the Best Man? More like the Worst Man.

But Maid of Honor Franchesca takes her duties seriously. Kidnapped groom? She’s got this. Rude attendees? You just watch her handle them. So a best man with a big attitude and an even bigger…checkbook? Yeah, there’s no way she’s going to let that pretentious, judgmental jackhole ruin her best friend’s wedding. No matter how sexy he is. (Well, that’s the plan anyway…)

Aiden Kilbourn doesn’t do long-term relationships. He’s busy ruling the business world, and has yet to find a woman he can tolerate for longer than a month, two at the outside. Conquering the unconquerable is basically his bread and butter. And he hasn’t met a challenge that he can’t win. But Franchesca Baranski? This smart-mouthed girl from Brooklyn may just be his downfall.

Again, I find my desire to be rich and famous waning. I don't want to be part of the 'in' crowd and have paparazzi surrounding me and judging my every move. It seems like a pretty lonely existence and it would be hard to know who your real friends are. In this story, most of the rich people are fake, self-centred, and egotistical. They treated people they considered beneath them horribly and expected money to solve their problems. It was all very unappealing.

Aiden's work in the family company controls his life and up until now, he hasn't minded. But, things are starting to feel empty and he's realised that he's actually quite lonely. When Aiden's step-brother causes havoc at his best mates destination wedding, he knows it's time to change things up. He needs to deal with his brother, get the groom to his wedding, and hopefully talk the maid of honour into his bed. Little did he know that the last task might be the biggest change in his life.

Frankie is a hard-working, independent, and strong-minded woman. She knows she's attractive but does not want to be just a face and body to be used. When the very sexy and very rich best man propositions her, she is less than impressed. It's going to take a lot more than his attractiveness to get into her panties ... especially when he nearly caused a wedding catastrophe.

The Worst Best Man was pretty good. It definitely wasn't the best story Lucy Score has written but it still left me mostly satisfied. I didn't like Aiden or Frankie in the first half of the story but I definitely warmed up to Aiden a lot quicker than Frankie. I can give Aiden the benefit of the doubt because he hadn't felt a connection to a woman to warrant wanting more than fun in the sheets. With Frankie, she is nasty, opinionated, and very judgemental ... and I'm not convinced she's changed her ways by the end.

I really liked Pru, Chip, Marco, Rachel and Gio. These additional characters were lovable, funny and distracted me from my frustration with Frankie. The sexy times were HOT! The storyline kept my attention from start to finish and I'm glad there was a happy ending.

Even though this wasn't my favourite, I will definitely be reading more from Lucy Score in the future.
