Little Dreamers: Visionary Women Around the World by Vashti Harrison

Little Dreamers: Visionary Women Around the World (Vashti Harrison)

by Vashti Harrison

"Brief, illustrated bios of women creators around the world"--

Featuring the true stories of women creators and thinkers from around the world, throughout history, this book shows that sometimes seeing things a little differently can lead to big changes. Some names are well known, some are not, but all the women had a lasting effect on the fields they worked in. Whether they were breaking ground for innovative structures or breaking rules and creating new ones, the women profiled here not only made a place for themselves in the world but made the world a better place to live.

This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Little Dreamers: Bold Women in Black History by Vashti Harrison blew everyone away last year and rightly so. She's back this year with 40 more women of international flavor.

IMHO: LITTLE DREAMERS Visionary Women Around the World

THIS IS SO ADORABLE AND INFORMATIVE. I really do not care for nonfiction in most cases. But this is straightforward, engaging, not condescending, and  a burst of sunshine.

The illustrations are adorable, realistic, and the backgrounds are detailed.

It's a good mix of the well known and the obscure. I think it's a good sampling across the world and not US centric. (But I'm USAian so YMMV).

Oh, did I mention how there's BONUS mini features of more women in the back? This is followed by further reading, a source list, and a glossary.

I was disappointed there was only like one Native/Indigenous woman featured. So I want to drop a link to a Wiki list for perusal. And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the leap forward from the midterm elections! (And mention Connie Walker from Canada's CBC with her kickass podcast Missing & Murdered)

That one minor sore spot of mine aside, this book is fantastic. Everyone should read it and own it. Forget the photo coffee table books, leave Little Dreamers books out instead.
