I’ll admit that the whole concept behind Cover may be a bit self-indulgent. A comic book author writing about a comic book author and artist who gets wrapped up into this grand game of espionage? But honestly, I’m okay with it. The plot has been interesting, and they’ve done a great job obfuscating some important details.
I also absolutely adore the artwork of the series. It’s nice to see an artist feel comfortable enough to start experimenting like this. The fluid lines, the watery colors…they’re outstanding. Then there are the occasional pages of other styles (implying the style of the artist in the series), they’re also quite beautiful, but more than that the style is actually distinct from the main series, making the transition both obvious and flawless.
