I recommend listening in the order of release. At just under nine hours these audiobooks are the perfect length. Amanda Ronconi narrates and captures the characters wonderfully as she enhances the suspense and brings this magically world to life through tone and pacing.

In Fledgling, Cassandra is adjusting to her new life and mastering her magic at Miss Castwell’s Institute for the Magical Instruction of Young Ladies. Life is not without problems what with attacks my unicorns, strange visions and the fact that the Mother book isn’t speaking to her. Then there is the problem of her maid and the other Changelings like her.

The tale that unfolded was fast-paced with plenty of action, magic devices, spells, developments and an odd romance. I loved the tension from fear of discovery to worries about Cassandra’s sister, the other changelings and more. It was an addictive adventure.

Fledgling wrapped up nicely but left us with a new uncertainty. I find myself anxious for the next installment. Wherever it leads us I feel confident Cassandra is up for the task. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer
