This is the story of one woman and the incredible cells taken from her, its impact on her family, racism and poverty, the history of medical research and the ethics involved, and the very real human beings behind tissue samples. I did not expect this book to be as compelling and emotional as it was. I listened to the audiobook, which has incredible narration. I was hanging on every word, learned a great deal, and left with much to think about.
