Ah sweet nostalgia! I’ll be honest Goosebumps books have never ‘wowed’ me but there is something comforting about holding a beat up copy with the original covers and smiling because you know it’s going to be incredibly cheesy.

Welcome to Dead House is the first in the series and sets the pace for the rest, though this one has a much better ending that most others. Amanda and Josh move to a new house but something isn’t right about it or the town. As a kids book it does have some super heavy foreshadowing, which can be frustrating for those of us who know ‘creep’ when we see it. But overall it’s a really fun read, though that ending made me lose a bit of respect for the family. Why didn’t you warn the other people?!
