With some of the revelations made in the last issue, I feel like we have a slightly better grasp on what is happening in this series. Not a firm one, mind you. Just better. We still don’t know where the heck this technology came from (there’s no way the father came up with this on his own, sorry) or what the true cost is.
That being said, they’re still succeeding in throwing curveballs at us. I certainly wasn’t expecting that introduction, nor the small mystery that followed it. It’s clear that there’s a lot going on in this town, though the lack of transparency is becoming an issue for some.
There is kind of a graphic scene involving a pig and a cookout, but while a little gross and upsetting (gross for specific reasons) it serves a purpose to the plot. Still wanted to warn everyone out there…though I don’t think it’s the worst they’ve shown us.
I love the last couple of panels to this issue. It perfectly shows how dire the situation has become, despite all the promises to the contrary. In one page we got an idea of the severity and scope of it, without having to use any words. It was a brilliant move by the creative team.
