Any Duchess Will Do by Tessa Dare

Any Duchess Will Do (Spindle Cove, #4)

by Tessa Dare

What's a duke to do, when the girl who's perfectly wrong becomes the woman he can't live without? Griffin York, the Duke of Halford, has no desire to wed this season-or any season-but his diabolical mother abducts him to "Spinster Cove" and insists he select a bride from the ladies in residence. Griff decides to teach her a lesson that will end the marriage debate forever. He chooses the serving girl. Overworked and struggling, Pauline Simms doesn't dream about dukes. All she wants is to hang up her barmaid apron and open a bookshop. That dream becomes a possibility when an arrogant, sinfully attractive duke offers her a small fortune for a week's employment. Her duties are simple: submit to his mother's "duchess training"...and fail miserably. But in London, Pauline isn't a miserable failure. She's a brave, quick-witted, beguiling failure-a woman who ignites Griff's desire and soothes the darkness in his soul. Keeping Pauline by his side won't be easy. Even if Society could accept a serving girl duchess-can a roguish duke convince a serving girl to trust him with her heart?

I absolutely loved this book!!!

Definitely my favourite of the series. I almost wished I'd done a re-read of all the Spindle Cove books before starting this one. I wanted to have Min's recollections fresh in my mind instead of vaguely remembering the scenes.

The characters were funny and sweet. The Duchess cracked me up in nearly every one of here scenes. Griff's sadness nearly broke my heart. Pauline's determination to do right by Daniela was beautiful.

When I came to the end of the story and Ms Dare wrote about the medical reasons for why the Duchess had lost so many babies, it hit very close to home. My family has the same blood condition (can't really call it a condition, just that our blood type is different) and my mother lost a baby between my older sister and myself because the drug given to people like us was given to another woman at the hospital with the same initial and surname...what's the chances? It brought home how much we have learnt medically throughout the years.

Great work Ms Dare...you are a legend in Historical Romance.
