This is one of those rare cases where I might have actually enjoyed the second book more than the first! I found while reading the first book in this series, I was often confused because there was so many characters. I'm not sure if anything changed or if it all just clicked for me but I had most of them figured out pretty early on. I think it helped that we got a lot more interactions with the parents this time around. Speaking of parents, I want to mention how awesome it is that we actually get parental characters in a YA book! That almost never happens!

In the first book, our adventure happened with all of our main characters. In Darkwalkers we almost get two adventures in one. Danny and Katrina are off trying to find a cure and possibly Danny's mom if they can manage it. Russell and Poppy "accidentally" end up on a totally different adventure. Someone needs to lock these kids up though if we're being honest. So much trouble finds them! Not that I'm really complaining because it makes for a really fun story.

I liked that we got to learn more about the parents backstories in Darkwalkers. I find it really interesting (plus the author isn't shy about throwing in some surprises here and there). I've never loved such a dysfunctional family before and I'm really looking forward to how this series turns out!
