Raine is a great main character. She was easy to identify with and you could understand her pain, thoughts and feelings. At some points I did become frustrated with her but, then I had to remember how young she is and remember what I was like at her age.The Eirik/Torin struggle was your typical love triangle. I'm interested to see how her character develops throughout the series.
Eirik is the boy next door. He's nice, safe and kind. At first it seemed like he really liked Raine but after a while I got a feeling he was into someone else but was with Raine because he thought it was what he was supposed to do and not necessarily what he wanted to do.
Cora was an excellent but nutty friend. She was clearly the wild one of the two I enjoyed her craziness.
Torin was the hot new mysterious neighbour. I found him very interesting and when you finally find out who he is and what he does it becomes even more interesting. I don't know too much about this area of mythology but I am very keen to find out more.
The ending of this book was pretty soul crushing. I was honestly so caught up in the book I had tears. I couldn't believe it. It's such a cliffhanger. I cannot wait for book two.
