How to Say I Love You Out Loud

by Karole Cozzo

When Jordyn's autistic brother joins her at her elite school, she's determined not to let anyone know they're related. Even if that means closing herself off to all her closest friends, including charming football, stud Alex Colby. But despite her best intentions, she just can't shake the memory of kissing Alex last summer, and the desire to do it again.

Can Jordyn find the courage to tell Alex how she really feels - and the truth about her family - before he slips away forever?

This was a very sweet and heartfelt story. Cozzo did a great job showing both sides of autism. She presented the side of the person with autism, as well as the side of those who love someone with autism. I really felt Jordyn's inner struggle. She wanted to be a good sister/daughter/person, but sometimes she didn't want everything to be about her brother. I was really proud of Jordyn, and how much she grew during this book. She started to look inside, and make decisions based on her own wants and needs, instead of worrying about what others will think. She took a brave step forward, and risked isolation and humiliation. And, well, I loved Alex. He really was Mr. Perfect.
