DK Readers L2: The Secret Life of Trees (DK Readers Level 2)

by Chiara Chevallier

Why do trees lose their leaves in winter? How do insects hide on bare branches? Let the trees themselves reveal their many secrets to you.

Longer sentences and an expanded vocabulary make this series of 48-page books slightly more challenging: Level 2 is appropriate for children who have started to read but still need help. Information boxes full of background information will stimulate inquisitive minds.

Written by leading children's authors and compiled in consultation with literacy experts, these engaging books build reader confidence along with a lifelong appreciation for nonfiction, classic stories, and biographies. There is a DK Reader to interest every child at every level, from preschool to grade 4.

Stunning photographs combine with lively illustrations and engaging, age-appropriate stories in DK Readers, a multilevel reading program guaranteed to capture children's interest while developing their reading skills and general knowledge.

With DK Readers, children will learn to read—then read to learn!

Tonight we're continuing our Forest for the Trees unit study with more readers and read alouds with the theme of trees. This is a DK Reader Level 2. My young reader can read Level 2, but the first page almost turned her off the while book because she couldn't read the words due to the images behind the words on the first page spread. After I read a while she did take over.

Very informative. Discussion on tree heights and even I was delighted with the new knowledge of tree roots going as far as the tree is high. More talk if leaves and throughout the seasons as well. In this little non fiction science reader we get tree identification, anatomy, life span, and the uses of trees. This is a wealth of information for the young learner.

Biomes are introduce as well. Including North America habitats, rain forests, African forests, Tropical areas and beaches.

My daughter was amazed to discover that books and paper came from trees! Gotta love learning!

This is a library book, Tipton Co Library. Paperback, early reader.
