Kenna's Thoughts

I was so excited to read this book.  It's the sequel to one of my favorites, "The Billioinaire's Bodyguard".  Also, I love everything that I've ever read from Erin Leaf.  "Better Together" didn't disappoint me at all.

My favorite boys, Alex and Jesse, are back.  They're heading to a bed and breakfast for a much needed vactation.  While out on a hike, shots are fired at them, however, the shots are actually being fired at JESSE rather than Alex.  The gunman says he's seeking revenge because he believes that Jesse's father stole his woman, and got her pregnant.  Jesse, deciding to be heroic, leaves Alex at the B&B thinking that, if he's gone, Alex will be safe.  And if you know my boys like I know my boys, Alex isn't going to take that lying down.

This was a great story.  It tied everything up nicely, and liked that...no loose ends.  It showcased just how perfect Alex and Jesse are for each other and how strong their love really is.  There is a lot of humor.  I laughed a lot.  Even when they're being shot at, they still share the banter that I've enjoyed throughout their relationship.  Then, there is the sex.  Alex and Jesse have perfect chemistry.  They're both strong men who can give as much as they get.  They're not afraid to express their love...and boy do they express it!  Ms. Leaf always writes amazing sex scenes, and the ones here in "Better Together" are no exception.  Expect to have to fan yourself quite a bit while you're reading.

I found this to be a satisfying sequel and end to Alex and Jesse's story.  Although, as I've mentioned, I love the characters so much, I hope that they're not going to ever go away.  They have potential for even more books and novellas (Check out "The Blizzard" to see what I'm talking about.), and they can easily make background appearances for future novels.  It's possible that one could read this as a stand alone, but I wouldn't.  Book one, "The Billionaire's Bodyguard" is and awesome story in and of itself.  It will make some of the references in "Better Together" easier to understand.  I highly recommend that you read these books.  You'll fall in love with Jesse and Alex, just like I did, and it's totally worth it.
