This book is dark and heavy. The relationship is all consuming, obsessive, drawing you deeper and deeper into the twisted nature of it just like Paul and Julian are drawn to each other. It all comes to a head with a violent act and you see how the ramifications of said act affect Paul, Julian, and their already obsessive and toxic relationship. Reading this book I felt a sense of dread that never left me as I got more into the story. You just know things are bad and they are only going to get worse the more you read.

And I liked it.

This was my first foray into dark academia and I enjoyed it! I'll be looking forward to more dark academia and books by this author!
