But Perry has other challenges. His people are looking to him for answers. Answers about what happened to his nephew and what's happening to their world. And they don't trust the privileged Aria, one of the enemy, in their midst.

Soon Perry'll be forced to chose between the tribe that looks to him for leadership and the girl that looks to him for love.

I noticed something immediately upon starting Through the Ever Night: I didn't remember a lot from Under the Never Sky. It has been over a year, but I didn't realize just how much I had forgotten. And I only noticed because the author doesn't do a very good job of reminding us of the major plot points. The story just takes off from page one, which was a little startling. However, as the story went on, small references sparked my memory and I could settle in without being too lost.

Another weird thing that I noticed, was that just like the first book, I only thought the first part was okay, but the ending was great! It's a little slow going and I still don't care too much for Perry and Aria as characters. Where this book really shines for me is in the world. I loved seeing more of the Tides as well as another tribe, the Horns. The Realms also have brief appearances throughout, and I enjoyed seeing more of it, especially now that problems are arising.

I also liked how something was actually accomplished in this book and it's not just filler for the next one! Aria and Perry achieve some of their goals (I won't spoil which ones), but of course they run into many additional problems along the way. The Aether storms are getting worse, and Perry worries for the state of his tribe. The Pods are failing, and Aria wants to save her friends and the other citizens. The only sure way for either of them is to find the Still Blue. I'm super eager to see them on their way, if it in fact exists.

Overall, I liked this book. In some ways I enjoyed it more than the first, but in some ways I didn't. Either way I loved the continued world building and learning more about the situation Outside. Even though I haven't made a connection with Perry and Aria, I still wish to see them succeed, and I can't wait to see what the final book has in store! Hopefully, it'll keep me interested from beginning to end.
