From multiple award-winning author Sharon Draper comes a story that will forever change how we all look at anyone with a disability, perfect for fans of RJ Palacio's Wonder.

Eleven-year-old Melody is not like most people. She can't walk. She can't talk. She can't write. All because she has cerebral palsy. But she also has a photographic memory; she can remember every detail of everything she has ever experienced. She's the smartest kid in her whole school, but NO ONE knows it. Most people--her teachers, her doctors, her classmates--dismiss her as mentally challenged because she can't tell them otherwise. But Melody refuses to be defined by her disability. And she's determined to let everyone know it...somehow.

I checked this one out of the library based on a recommendation, and I am glad I did. I had a lovely time getting to know Melody. Her CP left her non-communicative, and therefore, this story unfolds in Melody's head. My heart did all sorts of maneuvers as I listened to her thoughts. Melody made me laugh and filled me with joy, but there were also times, where she just broke my heart. I was so happy, that Melody had people in her life, who worked so hard to try and understand her and to communicate with her. It was such a treat getting to be there for each milestone and small victory, and I just simply fell in love with this smart and witty little girl.
