When it says dark romance, it really means it! If you are a fan of Anna Zaires' books, this one is right up, your ally! I guess my main problem is what happens at the beginning of the book The not so consensual rape scene I was not expecting that and wish I had gotten a warning for that. It would have been interesting to see the characters act this way due to genuine interest instead of born from trauma.

I would have also loved to see them grow together in mutual respect rather than this being another kidnap/Stockholm syndrome book. The kidnapping genre has the negative effect of leaving the reader wondering if the characters would have had a connection if the snatching hadn't occurred in the first place. In this book, I questioned why it was there in the first place. It would have been interesting to see them in a cat and mouse chase, each finding that the other has killed their victim before the other arrived and eventually just working together.

I think I rated it so highly because I did enjoy Bonnie as a character, but I am a huge sucker for badass women. It was also a very easy read. I read it all at once and didn't get bored with it.

Overall I was really interested in the premise but I think that the execution could have been better. I would give it a 2.5. That being said, I would probably read a sequel.
