Wolves and Daggers by Melanie Karsak

Wolves and Daggers (Steampunk Red Riding Hood, #1)

by Melanie Karsak

Who's afraid of the big, bad werewolf?

When London's brightest tinkers and alchemists come up missing, Red Cape Society Agent Clemeny Louvel is on the case.

To help Clemeny get the problem in hand, Queen Victoria assigns her a temporary partner--a werewolf with a knightly history and a tendency to be far too flirtatious for either of their good. Can she trust him to help her chase down the monsters they're hunting?

It's Penny Dreadful meets Supernatural in this exciting new gaslamp urban fantasy. Wolves and Daggers retells the classic Red Riding Hood fairy tale with hefty doses of badassery and steampunk.

See how New York Times bestselling author Melanie Karsak puts her unique spin on this timeless tale, blending it into her richly-built and award-winning steampunk universe.

Agent Clemeny Louvel might be one of my favorite characters. She is strong, independent and totally kick ass. She is a member of the Red Cape Society, a secret society that keeps the citizens safe from paranormal creatures. Someone is taking London’s brightest tinkers and alchemists and the Red Cape Society needs to find out who before it's too late.

I loved that this has a lot of paranormal and just enough steampunk. Melanie is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors and this entire Steampunk Fairy Tale series she is writing is fantastic. I read a Christmas novella for Red Riding Hood and loved it but when I found out she was making it a series, I was so excited. I honestly love Clemeny!

There is so much going on in this book that it is rather difficult to put down. The story lasted even after the book was over and I can't wait to read the next one. Such a great start to the series! You even get to visit the Mushroom from the Alice retelling book. I am looking forward to more of these books, so unique and original.

Overall this is a great start to a series, I adore Clemeny and all the other characters and can't wait to see what happens next. I highly recommend for those that love retellings and steampunk or just starting to get into it. It's not overwhelming and give just enough to make you fall in love with the world and the characters. Also don't forget to check out the other books in this series. They are stand alone so you don't have to read the other two before this.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my review.

Have a great day and Happy Reading!
