I was very disappointed by the fantasy aspect of this book (which is the reason why I bought this book). It just didn’t deliver, at all. I do think that putting so much emphasis on racism is (unfortunately) necessary sometimes to make people face the truth. Because those things exist. And the main characters were all portrayed stereotypes of their neighborhoods, so I am ok with the heavy portrayal of, well, stereotypes.
