Passion Creek was a great short read with a great story line The main character was Josie, she lived in Las Vegas and worked as a waitress but only until she had saved enough money to continue on her dream of being an artist by taking classes in Dry Creek.

On her last night at work she is given a diary from a kind man who had kept it in his possession for 9 years, she thinks nothing of it and takes it, she is then hounded by Snips, a nasty little man and he tells her that her twin brother Cy owes him $40,000. Josie’s dream is falling apart.

She ends up in a bar and has a one night with Sam. Upon leaving Josie drops a piece of paper from the diary, unbeknownst to Josie that the diary was written by one of Sam’s ancestors and that the piece of paper was a map to Rebecca’s Bounty.

Sam thinks Josie only slept with him because of Rebecca’s Bounty even though Josie hasn’t a clue what he is on about. When she finds out though she knows she must find it to get her brother out of trouble. She ends up in Dry Creek and eventually seeks Sam out and discovers hes a nerdy history professor.

Sam tries to stay away but the problem is they cannot keep their hands off each other but Sam still thinks she is only after the bounty and not in him. Will they work it out?

Passion Creek was well written, it had a mix of action, erotic romance and suspense. It was very enjoyable. I liked that the book had an actually story to tell and it wasn’t all about the sexual chemistry.

It is book 3 of the Layton series but it can be read as a stand alone.
