Kim Karr has done it again!
BLOW brings us into the gritty, somewhat ugly inner workings of the Blue Hill Gang (the Irish Mob in Boston) and how family members of the mob and their rivals are stuck in the crosshairs of battles beyond their control.
I loved Logan McPhearson. I loved his understanding of just how thin the line was that he was walking between good and evil. But he walked it, out of respect for his grandfather and obligation for the life his father gave up for him. He was haunted by his past, one tainted by certain things Blue Hill Gang but once he met Elle Sterling, he was determined not to let the past repeat itself. I applauded Logan's efforts. He was a man who was willing to do whatever he needed to do to protect someone who was innocent. His methods often put him right in the same bucket as the Blue Hill Gang, but you knew what he did came from a place of good (which meant I forgave him immediately or cheered him on).
Elle was stuck in her own worst nightmare too. Dealing with a missing sister, caring for her young niece and questioning everything her brother-in-law told her has her running to Logan for safety. She's a little scared of Logan, but she can't fight her attraction to him or the fact that he chases away her demons when she can't. From the moment she met him, he's protected her and her niece, and she's willing to put their safety in his hands.
Logan and Elle together were equal parts hot, fun and angsty. Kim Karr made that mix work for this couple, leaving me on the edge of my seat most of the book. I loved the storyline, with the mix between the Mob and whatever bad guys could get thrown into the story. And as the story ended, I was even more intrigued to figure out what was going on the Logan and his arch-nemesis if things weren't what he thought. That has me silently praying for the next book to magically drop on my Kindle some time soon.
