I swear these books lack any sort of subtlety, they see an idea and then they scream it out loud while literally spelling it out in bright red paint. Where some of the conversations flow naturally, others are just so shoehorned in that it's cringe-inducing. I spend so much of this series loving the ideas but hating 60% of the execution. We need more graphic novels that don't shy away from tough topics, because there is a lack, but the rather abrupt way all of it is introduced is just tiring. Life is not a series of shock value panels.
I imagine I'll ignore this series right up until I need another quick readathon read for a prompt I'm struggling with, seeing as that's exactly what's happened for this one and two previous ones. *shrugs*
