I like that you got to see what was happening in the story from both characters’ perspectives, although it did make the story a bit confusing at first. Usually when I read these kind of books, each chapter has the characters’ names at the start of the chapter which helps you to know, “Okay, we are going with this character.” With this book, you had to pay attention to the start of each part.

The story moved along at a great clip. You got to know who the bad guys were, and the descriptions of the monsters was nicely done. I like the back story that was filled in as you went along in the book. Both characters were developed in their skills by various other characters. This is a well thought-out first novel and sets the stage for a fantastic series.
