Coffee Dates with Cowboy, Cross My Heart

  • First Date: Naomi Pierce, a photographer, has returned to her Texas hometown to support her, best friend and Rodeo Queen, Whitney. She is snapping photos and taking pictures of two brothers, Brice and Caleb Harper. Naomi is drawn to Brice, and it appears as if he notices her in the stands. After the events she meets up with Whitney and someone attempts to grab her camera. Brice steps in and saves her.  It appears Whitney is hiding something and I am anxious to find out what. When Naomi processes her film the suspense angle amps up. This quickly has Brice, along with family and friends, stepping in to help. I was all in!

  • Second Date: With Naomi in danger and Whitney keeping secrets, Brice moves them into the East ranch for the evening. I love the sparks and sizzling chemistry between Brice and Naomi. Typical of romantic suspense, you'll need to swallow that little blue pill to accept the fast moving romance, but Grant allows them ample time to learn about each other. When the danger becomes deadly Brice and Naomi hold up at Brice's recently purchased homestead. Secondary characters, a little feud between the brothers and perspectives from the villains made for a page-turner.

  • Third Date: Grant brought us character growth and simmering moments all while turning up the suspense. The suspense thread had a ring of truth to it, and sadly could have been pulled from today's headlines. Sure, it had movie ready action scenes but Grant made it all work. I connected with Brice, adored Naomi and loved that drama between them was low-key and not over the top. I am hoping we get Caleb's story soon, but would also like stories on their friends. Yum. We are treated to a side romance and updates on Clayton and Abby, but this truly can be read on its own. I ended my third date satisfied but eager for more stories in the Heart of Texas series. The next book, My Favorite Cowboy releases in February 2019, but there is no synopsis at the time of this review.
