Carter Reed by Tijan

Carter Reed (Carter Reed, #1)

by Tijan

Emma decided to skip the gym and went home early. It was the last easy decision she made because she found her roommate being raped by the boyfriend. She had two choices. Call the cops and be killed by his family's mafia connections or kill him first and hope to survive. There was no choice to her. She killed the bastard first and went to the one person who could protect her. Carter Reed. He's a weapon for the rivaling mafia family, but he's also Emma's secret. Not only was he best friends with her brother, but she's the reason he became that weapon in the first place.

This book is not for the faint of heart.

I avoided this book at first. I downloaded the sample and read it and just sort of walked away from it. I have struggled with Tijan in the past. I love the fallen crest series but hated broken and screwed so I wasn't sure about this one. However it is filled with the things I love in NA: mafia, hot alpha, and danger. Once I got into this book I never put it down. I loved that there was not debate about the love between Carter and Emma. I hate when authors create the drama by messing with the main characters (its my least favorite new adult trick). So, now the scales are tipped back in favor of me being a Tijan fan!
