Before I begin, I would like to apologize in advance if this review isn't very coherent. It's Friday, and I'm absolutely EXHAUSTED from this past week so forgive me if I abruptly end my review to grab a pillow and fall asleep . . .
But anyways, moving on to my thoughts!
Okay, so if you know me, you'll know that if there's two subjects that don't like AT ALL, it's math and science. They're always the two subjects that I get the lowest grades in, and to me, they're just plain pointless. I know plenty of people who love them, and I have nothing against them, I just don't like the subjects ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
So if I don't like science, then why did I pick this up? Easy. There's a cat on the cover.
Hahahaha yeah JK I'm not actually that bad 😂 But still, you gotta admit that cover is super cute (*swoon*)
Actually, the truth is that I chose this book not JUST because of the cat (and because I'm a huge ailurophile) but also because it would allow me to successfully complete one of my #OWLSReadathon2019 challenges (which you can read all about in my post here)
Anyways, I can't even begin to explain how much I ended up liking this!
For one, all of the characters were great. I love love LOVED Jinx (he had the cutest personality EVER) and the side characters were also done really nice.
And even though I'm not even into STEM very much, I felt a super-strong connection with Lacey. Unlike other YA characters that I've seen, she actually has a passion, and will do whatever it takes to make sure she succeeds in getting her dream career. Her dedication, combined with the pure love she has for what does, was truly inspirational.
Furthermore, I really liked the concept behind the book. Having personal robotic pet companions was something that not only was had I never seen before, but was also super-believable. I want this to happen SO BADLY in the future!
My only complaint would probably be that the book ended off in a semi-weird place. Since I read this on my Kindle, I wasn't keeping track of my place in the book, and it kinda came up on me all of a sudden. HOWEVER, there is going to be a sequel coming out soon, and I'm looking forward to reading where it left off!
I'm going to go ahead and give this five stars. Now please excuse me while I go put my head on my desk and catch up on those zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz's during my free period before I have to go to history class . . .
